The star has given the full amount of his £25k honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's grassroots concert spaces.
Fender was awarded the prize on October 16 as his new release his work was declared the top album of the past year.
He has opted to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.
"As an artist wouldn't be doing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are facing challenges."
Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – approximately one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
Recently, major artists such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their ticket costs, which benefits independent venues.
Sam Fender also participated, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across the UK.
These funds supported venues that were confronting imminent closure due to challenges caused by floods, fires and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and sound issues.
Other venues received financial assistance in improving infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and fans.
"The concept that funds from performances in major spaces backs the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just logical," the star has commented.
Fender is among several artists to contribute his honor funds to worthy causes.
Back when Pulp earned the award in the year 1996 for their release the album, vocalist Jarvis Cocker declared that the group would donate their winnings to the organization War Child.
That year, musician the artist shared her award across a few good causes, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"I also donated a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was growing up and they required better apparatus," she told the media.
Previously, Ezra Collective donated their prize money to the local youth club that supported their group, alongside other local music groups.
Also the 1994 recipients M People gave their award to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.
"The victory was quite enough," remarked vocalist Heather Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory impacted another person's life."
Recently, the Music Venues Trust announced it had rescued two small stages in the South East, by transferring them to local control.
The Joiners in the city and the second in that location were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is backed by a national body and supporters who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
